We are two friends who the expat life brought together only for them to realise the common passion they share about Euroleague basketball. This blog is the culmination of endless Whatsapp texts over many years on tactics, rumours, but more than anything else, Fantasy rosters. Over one of the many pints that usually accompanied these chats we had the crazy idea that there may be more like us out there.
People who maniacally refresh the Euroleague injuries page before the trade deadline lapses; people who translate posts and articles from foreign languages to see whether their Fantasy captain will play tomorrow; but more importantly, people who feel utterly convinced by totally unsubstantiated patterns, artificial data observations, hunches, gut feelings or absolute FOMO on what is a good trade for this round, to the degree that they are willing to go out and share it publicly with everyone! This is us and this space serves exactly that!
This blog will stir away from professional-level proper basketball analyses on tactics, plays and whatnots for a very simple reason; we are not professionals! It will rather focus on what we know to do best; speculate with next-to-no evidence on which players will do well this season/period/round and be ready to defend our choices to death!
HIGH is a great theorist of the Euroleague Fantasy Challenge who has too little to show in practice! A below average amateur basketball player at his best nevertheless has been bragging for his basketball video gaming skills and considering till today that his greatest achievement in Euroleague Fantasy has been his advice to LOW to select Daniel Hackett as a Captain for the 21th round of the Euroleague season 2021/22 helping LOW win (yes, globally!) that round! HIGH resides....high in Europe (in the United Kingdom) since 2012 and met LOW in 2016.
LOW spent almost a decade in the United Kingdom until he couldn't take it anymore and decided to repatriate in 2023! He spends his days in Greece now, enjoying the sun but not the traffic. He is a Euroleague aficionado who blames his subpar basketball skills on his bad right knee instead of his weak physique and lack of talent. Has been playing Euroleague Fantasy for the last five years in a private league with additional unwritten rules because the written ones are not enough...His greatest Euroleague Fantasy achievement has been winning globally round 21 of season 2021/2022 by trusting HIGH's instinct more than HIGH himself and selecting Daniel Hackett as a Captain!
