Logic, patterns and a bit of a hunch.... - Round 7

G - Sterling Brown - BER - 10.7 - vs PAO

After an exploratory start, Brown has started finding his way around Euroleague basketball. He has 4 consecutive rounds of almost 20 PIR, but more than that, he seems to be involved in every aspect of BER's game. He is taking 10+ shots per game, he is grabbing rebounds, he is passing the ball; in his 25+mins on the court he makes his presence noticeable on multiple fronts. PAO is struggling with his perimeter defence and Juancho Hernangomez's long-term absence will only make things worse. It feels like the right matchup for Brown to take advantage of the open space with his agility and penetration skills and cause significant damage to the greens.

G - Lorenzo Brown - MTA - 14.4 - vs BAY

For many Euroleague fans, Lorenzo Brown is considered one of the favourites to finish first in the PIR ladder this season. In Fantasy terms, we think that Lorenzo's avg PIR of 15.6 is below his standards and he is yet to shine. The main reason for his subpar performance so far is the relatively low 2FG % (43.7% with avg ~ 6 attempted 2FG per game) and the high avg turnovers (4.8). However, Brown is ranked 1st in Euroleague in points-responsible-for, a statistic based among others on the sum of points scored and points offered to his team via assists and secondary assists. MTA is in a very good form and we expect Lorenzo to lead their way to victory. While he is still expensive in absolute terms, we feel his growth potential outweighs the current cost (grab it while you can opportunity).

F - Alec Peters - OLY - 10.5 - vs BKN

Surprise, surprise (not!) this is another round we stick to Alec Peters who seems to become our favourite choice of the year! And how he can't be (be prepared to feel amazed) with these stats: 13 avg ppg, 5 reb, 2.2 ast, 1.3 stl, 16 PIR with shooting 64.7% 2FG, 47.4% 3FG%, 87.5% in 6 games and just 27 minutes played per game! If you were asked how much would you give for a Fantasy player with these stats, we are pretty sure you would say more than 12 crd! Well, grab him while you can! Are we expecting him to continue playing at this level? Definitely yes! Sikma, his OLY counterpart in PF position, is still on the injury list and seems to have a relatively long way to return to the courts. And until that happens we will be putting our faith in Alec...

F - Alpha Diallo - ASM - 10.9 - vs ASV

Being a member of a team that has (among others) Mike James, Jordan Loyd and Kemba Walker in the roster makes it easy to be unnoticed from the fans...and we are sure that you have not noticed what Alpha Diallo has done in the last 4 Euroleague games: avg PIR 18.5 with a minimum of 15 and a standard deviation of 2.89! Well, if you are looking for the definition of stability, consistency and high caliber performance, simply grab Alpha Diallo at the price of 10.9 crd! Do not expect an easy game for ASM against ASV! This is a French (well...French-speaking) derby and ASV under the new head coach and after their first win in the 2023/24 season seem to be in a good mood! But this is good news for us... as no one needs a versatile and hustle player like Diallo in friendly games...

C - Ante Zizic - EFS - 10.4 - vs ZAL

Zizic hasn't shined with his performance so far. Neither EFS as a whole to be honest. The home game against ZAL is an excellent opportunity for some come back after two road defeats. ZAL started strongly the competition but suffered two somewhat unexpected home defeats against teams of similar caliber. They seem unable to contain strong agile big men in the paint with almost all of their opponents achiving 20+ PIR (Shengelia - 21PIR, Mitrovic - 20 PIR, Poirier - 30PIRM, Davies - 16.5PIR, Lauvergne - 22 PIR). We expect the pattern to continue with Zizic who is also coming from a very strong domestic league game (22p, 17 rebs). EFS needs to find a new balance and their big man will play a role in that in the upcoming round.
